ALSTOM interview questions

I applied through college(NIT hamirur), the process started with an online test(aptitude+technical) which can be easily cleared if you have the surface knowledge of some core mechanical subjects such as thermo, som, MD, RAC. Then selected students were called for further process to NIT kurukshetra. They gave a PPT n then their was a group discussion over "should government invest in primary education or should it open more IITs & IIMs." U should give some valid points with data to support ur argument in order to clear it. Then their was technical interview in which they mostly asked about SOM (SFD BMD, Mohr's circle), and some general question on deisel cycle, otto cycle and machine design. They didn't much cared for what projects or internships u have done. Next was HR round in which general questions were asked such as why do u wanna join our company.

Simple and basic questions on Power system engineering and HVDC were asked. Emphasis was on basic control strategy of LCC HVDC. if static characterisitic is known, then aswering the question will become very easy. beside this, commutating switches working principle and their purpose in the scheme is also an important aspect.
