      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ASDA (Cambridge, East of England, England)

      Interview

7 years ago I obtained a paper copy of application form from customer service and after completing brought it back to the customer service. After several weeks they sent me a letter inviting me to taking part in a kind of assessment centre. So a group of about 20 candidates and about 5 ASDA employees (mainly managers, even SGM at some point) did some simple tasks and had to tell about themselves. At the end of the meeting every candidate got a list of all available posts including contracted hours, days and times for each. They have to mark which would suit them. After about a week I was contacted by phone and invited to an interview leaded by a potential line manager. There were typical questions about experience in dealing with customers, how would you deal with troublesome customers, why do you want to work for them, etc. After several days I was informed that I was successful and what post I was offered (one of those I marked before). Then was 2-days training session - not post-related. And next day I started my normal job.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ASDA (Brighton, England) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Applied online and then was invited to an interview approximately 2 weeks after. I attended ASDA magic and there was about 9 of us, with a couple of people having not shown up. We did an ice breaker in pairs and then told the rest of the room the person's name, a bit about them, and who they would do a duet with and why, and also who they would never want to be stuck in a lift with. We were then put into different pairs and did a role play, picked an item out of a bag and then pretended to be the customer and the colleague, selling the item. This was all very light hearted and fun. We then went off into three groups and rotated around filling in paperwork, having a go in the store and a one to one interview. Again each of these was very relaxed and went well. The staff were all really friendly throughout the whole process. I was then given a phone call that afternoon asking me to come to a trial shift a few days after, spent about 4 hours shadowing on the shop floor. Was told that day that I had the job and was invited to "ASDA Best Welcome", 3 days of signing paper, watching videos and training on the job. It's long but you get paid for it! Overall a very positive experience, all staff have been helpful and supportive along the way.
