I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AT&T in Jun 2012
Interview
They called me within hours of submitting my application. You have to know how to use the systems and part of the hiring process is taking a simulated call and being scored on it. It also involves being drug tested. Online application has extensive personality testing. If they hire you they have you pick out your schedule. The morning shifts are reserved for more tenured agents. After working there for about 6 months you may submit a schedule change request to the Employee Relations department to see if they will approve the change. Schedule is set up so almost no shifts have two days in a row off.

Interview
being called in for an interview is nothing. what you should be worried about is whether or not you've passed their 45-2hrs long test (depending on how smart you are, I guess) before the interview. Then you go and have this one-on-one interview which not that bad, but you have to read a script and your being told that your pronouncing the word (eligible) wrong.
