      Area Manager Interview

      Apr 15, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Birmingham, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Birmingham, England)

      Interview

The interview process so far has been one of the most streamlined experiences I have had with any company I have applied for. I applied via the Amazon recruitment portal and a few days later received an email to complete a numerical test online. Almost as soon as I received the email I completed this test and the next day received another email to schedule a phone interview with an amazon recruiter. i picked a time slot for the following day. The phone interview was pretty straight forward. No tricky questions and the interviewer actually spoke a lot about the company. Questions like tell me about yourself and why amazon. Nothing too difficult. The same day of the phone interview, i received another email stating that they would like to invite me for an inhouse interview. I scheduled the interview for the following week. The interview day consisted of 4 separate interviews with people from different disciplines within the company. 1 human resources, 2 senior operations managers (one based at the site I interviewed for and another from a different site) and 1 operations manager from a different department. I would say all of the people who interviewed with me were very friendly. at one point, the manager from the different department was actually asking whether or not I would be willing to come work for him if the other operations managers were fine with it. There was however one of the Senior ops managers who tried to discourage me from taking on the position. I found it odd but I stuck by my guns. Another one of the managers was very expressionless and it was hard to gain any sort of feedback from my answers. He was definitely the toughest part of the interview process. The day ended with a site tour which was rather amazing. The fulfilment centre was even bigger than I would have imagined. So i am just waiting to hear back. i was specified a lead time of 4 working days but I have found in the past that if a company wants you, then they would get back to you before this date. All in all a great experience and i really admire the company

All virtual. STAR interview questions (situation task action result). Think of examples of tough situations you had to deal with. I think I had 2 or 3 interviews before I got an offer. Pretty smooth process overall.

or an Amazon Level 4 (L4) Area Manager phone interview, you will face 2 to 3 main behavioral questions, alongside a highly possible operational math screening question. Because L4 is typically an entry-level management role (often targeted at recent college graduates or individuals with early-stage leadership experience), the focus shifts heavily toward potential, basic problem-solving, and your ability to lead groups of people
