Glassdoor users rated their interview experience at American Express as 100% positive with a difficulty rating score of 2.5 out of 5 (where 5 is the highest level of difficulty). First round is an online Hirevue with behavioral questions and MC and second round is 1 hr 45 min behavioral plus technical w two engineers not sure if that’s the final round though
The entire process took about 2 months and involved over 5 rounds of interviews including multiple case study rounds. They are clear what the format of each interview will be and are generally responsive to questions via email.

Interview
The interview process was challenging but also enlightening as to many of the emerging technologies being used, Terraform, Sentinel and migrations of Java Spring to Kotlin and integration of microservices using Go. The first interviews were coding tests and experience building. Others went into dozens of questions related to technology and languages.
