Be prepared for 8 to 10 hours of Interviews. They will all be conducted by “normal employees.” This can result in great, effective interviewers, or awkward impossible people to communicate with.
Any bad impressions or interview is an immediate disqualification, but you won’t find out until the very end. You can perform and interview incredibly for 4/5 sessions, but that one outlier will cost you the job. This can even be due to a poor interviewer.
The arrogance of some staff is off the charts. To the point of being abused after politely correcting them on an interview questions answer that was misleading.
The culture fit interview is basically an opportunity to show how politically correct you are, and what kind of activism you participate in. The questions are thinly veiled and honestly a little appalling given the context. No company should be asking for my political views.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Canva (Melbourne) in Jul 2025
Interview
Got a first round phone interview with recruiter and got an instant rejection the day after in an automated email response without reason. Disappointing but more or less expected outcome especially in a high demand place like Canva or maybe the hiring manager didn't like my Linkedin profile
The interview process was structured and professional. It began with an initial phone screen with a recruiter, where they discussed my background, the role, and general fit. This was followed by another interview with the hiring manager, focusing on both technical skills and behavioral questions. Communication was generally clear throughout the process, and timelines were mostly respected.
