I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Deloitte (San Jose, CA) in Oct 2016
Interview
I applied to Deloitte via their on-campus recruiting efforts at my university. The first round interview was on campus and consisted of a pleasant 30-minute conversation with a senior tax manager. Questions were most about my resume and experience, with a couple behavioral ones thrown in. There had been a recruitment event where candidates could bring in their resumes to get feedback from people who worked at the companies before the applications were due, and my interview ended up being with the same person who had reviewed my resume. The next round was a day at the office. However, they sent me to the wrong office, possibly because most applicants from my university were applying to the closest Deloitte office and I was applying to one about an hour away. The office day consisted of two 30-minute conversations/interviews with tax managers in their offices, followed by lunch with the other candidates and several first- and second-year associates. After that, I received no communication from Deloitte for about a month. Then I received a phone call from someone at Deloitte I had never spoken to, at around 9 pm, informing me that I was not getting an offer. It seemed very strange because the earlier part of the process, as well as the process with the other Big 4 firms, was very programmatic and included a lot of emails about what was going on and when. I am giving this interview experience a negative review just because it seemed like there was some kind of breakdown with my application process partway through, starting when they sent me for an office day in the wrong city and had me talk to people I wouldn't be working with. However, everyone I talked to in person was great, and the interviews themselves were very easy and relaxed.
