It went three rounds.
1. phone screening with HR - this was about basic interview questions.
2. skype with manager - this went more technical.
3. face to face with manager and other colleagues - this was very technical, also including a short presentation of one's previous work.

Interview preceded by psychological tests. Fast invite for this interview after the online application. Overall, the interview was easygoing, with a brief presentation of the position and its requirements. Afterwards questions referred to my motivations, skills and experience, followed by concrete examples. In the end it was a good interview.

Interview
Interview was pretty friendly and standard, focusing mostly on technical questions and knowledge of the research topic they are lately working on.
Three people in the room, face to face, your direct manager, the technical person in charge of that research team and the recruiter.
I didn't do any exam, however, my position was not related to coding only research.
