4 interviews
2 coding rounds, 1 system design (HLD + a bit LLD)
1 Managerial round
The interview with developers was really good. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and helpful at times.
Got positive feedback and then moved on to the final round.
That's where my experience got worse.
As soon as the Senior Manager joined the interview, he gave no introduction, went straight into questions. His tone was rude, unpleasant, and unprofessional for the very least.
And it appeared that he was engaged in some other task simultaneously, and a lot of times he asked me to repeat my answers. He wasn't listening at all.
As soon as I started answering questions, within a sentence or two, I was cut off with either a sarcastic comment as to how I'm not providing him a bookish definition or just another question.
About 20 mins into the interview his tone got even worse.
He then started asking me questions he knew I wouldn't be able to answer precisely because I told him the extent of work I did earlier.
He asked me why I haven't done something a senior should've in my current org despite knowing that neither do I hold a senior position nor my work is praised at all.
It was just disheartening and disappointing to see this experience from a leadership team from a huge firm like Expedia. Highly unprofessional.
