How would you solve (XYZ problem they currently have at Slack)?

The problem was complex, and I wasn't given a lot of background information, but I gave an example from my current team that I thought was relevant.  I was told my example had nothing to do with the problem posed.  I felt shut down by the interviewer.

The key in these questions is to cover the fundamentals, and be ready for the back-and-forth with the interviewer.
