      Account Executive Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Indeed (New York, NY) in Aug 2015

      Interview

I have to talk about this experience, because this is one of my worst interview experiences I've ever had. After finding the job on indeed, I got an email from the recruiter saying they wanted a phone interview. The interviewer was nice enough, and she definitely tested your ability to think on your feet. A week or so later I interview in person and the interviewers are running late. After a brief tour of the office, where everyone absolutely looked miserable and stressed, like they had just rolled out of bed, I started to get a bit iffy as to what the culture was really all about. First interviewer comes in, he looks like he hates his job and recites generic questions. He obviously did not want to be there and kept looking at his watch. This sincerely pissed me off, because I prepped for days for the interview, and in comes this guy who could care less that this is your life and career. Then the second interviewer was nice, she seemed like she sincerely enjoyed her job and was very results driven, which was a nice change. The third interviewer, he was very direct, and just prompts you to sell yourself and what could possible contribute to the company. One could say they did this to throw you off balance and see if you're easily shaken, but having interviewed for similar rolls with other big companies, I wouldn't really think they put that much thought into the interview. Overall the place felt soul sucking, and the interviewers all gave me the impression that really didn't care about me as a candidate, but what I could do for them. There is great potential for for commission here, but honestly, the culture sucks, and the sales managers seem like they'd make you hate your life. Recruiter got back to me almost immediately which was nice of her, to let me know that the sales managers felt I didn't have "enough sales experience", to which I almost burst out laughing, since they 'supposedly' hire people with diverse background. TL;DR: In the end , I knew this wasn't a good fit for me, and I definitely knew they weren't going to ask me back. For a 'tech' company definitely had the lamest culture. The interviewers seemed to be pulling random questions out thin air, weren't prepared at all - unprofessional, and interview took about 2 hours.

I applied online. I interviewed at Indeed (Singapur) in Feb 2026

      Interview

The recruiter was based in Bangalore, India. At the start of the interview, he read through the job scope directly from his screen. He spoke very fast with a strong accent, which made it difficult for me to fully understand. After reviewing the role, he asked questions related to the sales process, motivation, strengths, sales targets, handling difficult customers, availability, and salary expectations. I asked for clarification more than once and answered the questions based on my understanding. The interview felt very transactional, with limited interaction beyond the scripted questions. Just some feedback, I feel I would have been able to respond more effectively if the questions were shorter and more direct. Some of the questions were quite lengthy. I have no issue with different accents, but speaking slower and clearer pace of speech would have improved comprehension.

      Interview

Fast paced but thorough. Was able to finish the process within 3-4 weeks. Fully remote and interviewed with several directors. The process felt personable and the directors took time to make sure that it was a good fit for me as well.

      Interview

Just a phone screen. It was clear the recruiter didn't fully read/misread my resume when she got on the call as I could hear her having her "oh oops" moment. Haven't heard since. At least she was candid that they don't promise any feedback or communication as a policy.
