Going through the interview process for the Vice President Cybersecurity & Risk Management position was a rollercoaster of anticipation and frustration. It all started when a recruiter from the company reached out to me on LinkedIn, impressed by my background and suggesting I apply. We had a positive initial meeting where they seemed enthusiastic about my fit for the role. However, weeks went by without any updates, leaving me uncertain.
After reaching out for an update, the recruiter assured me they were working on scheduling an interview with the hiring manager, who happened to be the Chief Information Security Officer. More waiting followed, and just as I was about to accept another offer, I finally received confirmation of an interview.
I prepared meticulously, researching the company’s security initiatives and rehearsing potential questions. On the day of the interview, I blocked off time in my schedule, ready to showcase my skills and enthusiasm for the role. Unfortunately, the hiring manager didn’t show up. It was incredibly disappointing and felt like a waste of time after weeks of anticipation.
Reflecting on the experience, it became apparent that the process had its flaws. The delays in communication and the unprofessional behavior during the interview were frustrating. It left me questioning whether this company truly valued their candidates' time and efforts.
