I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Lloyds Banking Group (Solihull, England) in Apr 2016
Interview
I filled in an application form online and got an invite to complete the strengths test and numerical test. Numerical test was quite easy. After completing the strengths test and numerical test I received an invite to complete the video interview.
The video interview was also strength based and consisted of 9 questions including one
1) Tell me about a time you exceeded customers expectation
2) Is ethic important
3) what would you do to fit well into a team
after the video interview i attended the assessment centre in solihull with consisted of a group task, a one on one interview, a written assessment and a pitch.
Group task
we were asked to discuss as a team initiatives we could take to make lloyds bank the best bank for customers. Stick to the values of the bank (customer focus, keeping it simple and making a change) you can talk about using technology, staff training etc. after the discussion we were given flashcards with potential challenges and asked to tailor our discussion to what was in the flashcards. we had 90 seconds for each flashcard. challenges included topics such as the use of big data etc. we were then asked to give the presentation based on what we discussed
One on one interview
This was split into three sections being strengths, motivational and technical. the strengths part asked questions such as why is it important to step out of your comfort zone and give an example? how would you handle a customer who has complained about a colleague? The motivational section asked for the reasons you applied to lloyds bank and the scheme. the technical section asked "what is a threat to lloyds bank", 'what are recent trends in the banking industry", "tell me about a story you have been following in the news and how this could affect lloyds", 'how does Lloyds differentiate itself from its competitors".
do as much research as possible on the banks values. i personally read their annual report and found a lot of the answers to the questions they asked were in the annual report. there is a section in the report which talks about their key challenges and opportunities. LEARN THIS. a key challenge for lloyds is the ppi scandal and the fact that the deadline is 2018. this means more costs for the bank etc. there has also been a ruling by the courts which have made it more difficult for banks to avoid paying compensation for pip claims. i also watched the last three episodes of question time on bbc i player, this will keep you on top of current affairs and provide you with arguments for and against certain topics. I also suggest reading the business sections of newspapers to keep up to date with the latest banking news
Written assessment.
consists of six questions and you must answer all. i suggest writing in bullet points. questions included "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" "you have just finished working on a project and your line manager tells you there is no more work for you to do. how do you handle this?" this is essentially a strengths test.
Pitch
"prepare a five minute presentation on a product, initiative or service that could be used to use make lloyds banking group the best bank for customers"
i presented this to family and friends beforehand so they could ask any questions that came to mind. the questions they asked were what the interviewers asked so that was helpful.
p.s i personally used glass door and it was very helpful. I got an offer thanks to the advice i got from here. i suggest collating all the questions from different post relating to the interview process and preparing answers. thats what i did and i was successful
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How does lloyds banking group differentiate itself from its competitors
I applied online. I interviewed at Lloyds Banking Group
Interview
Initial online application followed by video interview, and then an assessment centre in Solihull. The assessors at the assessment centre were very helpful, and made us all feel very relaxed and at-ease.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lloyds Banking Group in Apr 2016
Interview
I already work for the group in another department and applied for a branch role through internal intranet, but would imagine external candidates would apply online and complete simple numerical test then get invited to an interview.
The process took around 2 weeks I'm still waiting for a response as to whether or not I succeeded. I was supposed to have been interviewed by a branch manager and a senior member of the local directors office but was only interviewed by the senior member on this occasion.
The interview was based around the suitability for the role, what the candidate can bring to the role, and a variety of competency questions through a JEDI framework (Judgement, Execution, Direction and Influence) these should be answered using STAR (Situation Task Action Result).
