I applied online by doing the standard rigmarole, and a few days later, on a cold and blustery winter's night, got an email from PwC saying that they wanted to interview me over the phone. Shortly thereafter the interview took place. It was a very disappointing and dehumanising interview because it was clear that the woman interviewing me was simply reading from a sheet, asking me very bland and nebulous questions about teamwork and how I would help bring about a PwC-led utopian world. She had that monotone reading voice that many have that made her sound like she had the personality of an untoasted crumpet. Now, given that I never bothered to find out precisely what assurance is (I'm still uncertain), it's safe to say I was doomed from the start, and thus it transpired. My rejection email predictably followed the next day, coupled with a delightfully condescending 'performance review', presumably aimed at helping me transform myself into a PwC ubermensch.
