Interview
An HR rep reached out to do the initial screen. Once through the screen, they pivot to present themselves as your coach and advocate. It was a nice approach and for the most part, they seemed to really root for my success.
The second interview was with the hiring manager. This was more of a conversation. It was a great back and forth and ran long but felt fruitful.
Before the final interview, the HR rep called to help prep for the call. It was a really great process and I appreciated that they would take the time. He said it was their way to avoid false negatives and remove as many nerves as possible. It was very friendly and helpful.
The third interview was with the hiring manager and another team member. This was the most formal and structured however the two didn't seem to have much coordination. It started with a resume review followed by questions. A few of their questions were the same or similar. They did not seem as engaged in this interview as the manager had in the first interview.
After four business days, I received a rejection email through an automated email system. I messaged the HR rep back to thank them for their support and ask if there was any feedback. I did not hear a response. This wouldn't have been disappointing for most scenarios but given the support before all stages, it hurt a bit that the rep who had been with me the entire way just ghosted.
Overall it was a great experience. I only wish they would have taken some time to give me more feedback given the amount of time put into all the calls and interviews.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is one piece of advice you've received from someone who reports or reported to you?
Overall was pretty fast, applied and scheduled phone interview within a week. Had initial call with recruiter that I thought went very well but didn’t get passed on to the next round or a reply when I asked for feedback

Interview
Completed three interviews. The first was with Slack recruiter, the second round was with a senior manager and the third was with a senior manager and another manager.
The process was very streamlined and efficient, clearly explained, with reminder emails to confirm interview times.
I understood what to expect in each of the interviews in the lead-up to the interview and was made to feel comfortable by the interviewers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
First-round with recruiter is standard screening, Reason for applying for the role.
Why Slack?
SWOT, etc.
The second round interview is more detailed and the senior manager will want to get to know you more, and in my experience asked more specific questions about what they were looking for in the candidate.
How you have overcome challenging performance management situations and how you develop team members were the theme of a lot of the questions.
The third round interview involved going through my resume in chronological order from first job to most recent, with focus & detail on the most recent roles. Again questions related to performance management, and how I develop people within teams.
Phone Interview with Recruiter followed by Zoom Interview with Senior Manager. The recruiter interview was for an hour and the interview with the Senior Manager was for 45 minutes. Overall the questions were easy to answer.
