I was called up by a 'Business Recruiter' in the US who asked some general interview questions (Why do you want to work here? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? etc) and passed. They then set me up with another phone interview with the head of account management in the UK. She asked questions much more closely related to the job and the wider digital industry. The interview went so well, we finished early and she couldn't think of any more questions to ask me. I was told the next step would be a face-to-face interview and that I would be contacted by the recruiter in the US.
Unfortunately, I didn't hear anything for 2 weeks. I emailed the contacts in the US and got 2 responses: 1 automated email saying I was unsuccessful and a bounce-back saying the email address I contacted is no longer in use. I later found out, the recruiter in the US who initially interviewed me had left and my application was discarded. To make it worse, the person who was offered the job has half the experience I have - What a mess....
