I applied online. I interviewed at Tesla in Feb 2026
Interview
Recruitor set up call. The Engineer joined the call and we had a normal conversation about work environments, and then we jumped into technical questions related to mechanical engineering. Overall experience was pleasant, although I did not get a follow up.

Interview
The interview process was terrible. The entire process took over 3 hours and was an absolute waste of my time. I setup an appointment for an interview online with the expectation of having a one on one interview. When I arrived at the location there must have been at least 30 other candidates. They called me and 4 others in for a group interview 20 minutes past my scheduled interview were they asked us all pretty simple questions and pretty much told us we were probably all overqualified. They spoke highly of the company and seemed like they were actually trying to convince us to work for the company instead of the other way around. After meeting with the recruiter we were told that we were going to be going on a "test drive". What I didn't know and wasn't told is that we were actually going to go on a "drivers test". Basically they want to see how you drive and from what I gather they expect you to drive absolutely perfect because your expected to be a glorified "Taxi Driver" for the very unexciting and disrespectful starting wage of $20.20 an hour. I tried asking what the expectations were on how I was supposed to drive but the person that was observing me was very vague. She said she was under an "NDA" so she couldn't really discuss what the expectations were. Realistically this interview felt more like a gimmick to try and sell people their cars. When I originally met the person that was giving me my drivers test she seemed to lose her excitement when I told her I already own a Tesla. After the drive I was told someone from Tesla would reach out in about a week. Ive been driving for over 20 years and have never had any accidents or tickets but she obviously did not like how I drove because 4 days later I received an automated email from Tesla saying they have chosen another candidate and will not be considering me.
I applied online and got a email for an interview. The interview is conducted via Teams and there would be two interviewers that will questions you. The interview lasted for about 45 mins.
