I got a call on Tuesday afternoon from the Retail Staffing Center. The person on the phone asked me two simple questions. First, she asked, "Why did you choose Home Depot Stores to work for?" Second she asked, "Why did you choose the particular position you are applying to." After, the person said she would be in contact with me to let me know if I was chosen for a position.
On the following Monday, I called the store I applied to in order to check on the hiring process. The hiring manager asked me my name and set up a meet at 12 noon on Thursday.
The 12 o'clock Thursday meeting was a 1:1 interview. In this interview she asked me 5-7 situational questions, of which I can't remember all of them. However, they were pretty straightforward questions. the ones I remember are:
What would you do if a customer wanted a product that we did not have in stock, or that we did not carry?
Describe a time where you encountered a problem/issue, and what plan of action did you take to solve that problem/issue.
Describe a time where you were overwhelmed with work and assignments, and what did you do to solve the problem.
After I answered the questions, the hiring manager offered me a position, and I took it! The last thing I did was consent to a drug and background test.
