I applied around July 30th online and was called at like 8:30am on a Friday about two weeks later(August 10th). I was asleep and they left a message saying they will be taking callbacks until 10:00am. I didn't wake up until 11:30am and when I heard the message I was pretty bummed since I need a job. I did not call back since it was 11:30am.
However, at around 2:00pm I received two more calls from that number but didn't hear my phone. WTF! At like 2:20pm, I received ANOTHER call and I actually heard it. I picked up and was scheduled for an interview on the following Monday at 11am(August 13).
On that Monday, I arrived ten minutes early and had to wait until around 11:10am until the first interview. She was just a sales associate I think and didn't seem interested in me. She told me I was being interviewed for both the pet department and the cleaning supply/laundry supply department. She asked about five questions and didn't comment much. Made me sign a document and then I had to wait for the second interviewer.
At around 11:50am, I was called in with a manager of some sort, I don't remember his official job title. He was really upbeat and was really impressed that I, a 17 year old, had dressed in slacks and a dress shirt. He went on a rant about how most people only come in with dirty t-shirts. He then only asked me two question which I barely answered before he interrupted making conversation.
Nearing the end of that interview, he was set, ready to hire me. "Well, ____, I'd love to hire you, but I need to talk to personnel and see if we can hire a minor for this department since it involves chemicals (detergent, bleach, cleaning supplies, etc)." I had to wait in the waiting room again for about five minutes, and he came back out saying that I have to be 18.
That's been like the fourth interview that's ended like that "Sorry, you need to be 18." It's so annoying. He said that if any cart-pusher positions open soon that he will call and hire me, and that when I turn 18 in November he will move me to a different position. It's been two days, and I'm not so hopeful. But I have two interviews for two different Pizza Huts, so I'm not too upset.
