I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Western Union (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
Three different calls. Spoke with two different recruiters and the Sr VP from the digital HQ in San Francisco.
First recruiter was polished and appeared to be an outside contractor. This first pro recruiter scheduled a call with the senior product management VP. Later was approached by a second but internal recruiter who failed to follow up and came across as a total amateur.
The first recruiter had specifically scheduled a phone call - the VP had apparently not gotten that and thought he was doing a Zoom video call. VP appeared confused and came across not prepared and improvising his interview. To regain composure he asked demanding and somewhat harshly phrased questions. The talking points did not match the role described. The role in the ad was for a Senior PM and he was describing a tactical project manager or associate PM with scrum experience who could follow orders without asking questions, really a project administrator.
Overall you get the impression of a bureaucratic operation in disarray that is trying to compete with nimble and fast newcomers. The suggested base package range was below SF and current bay area averages for comparable roles.
We are sorry to hear of your interview experience. We will be sure to share your feedback with our talent acquisition team as we work to improve our candidate experience in each and every region around the world.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Western Union (Rio de Janeiro)
Interview
