I found that there was no clarity on what is the role and responsibilities, the interview was focused solely on modelling, and what type of advanced models we can implement to the business for marketing purposes. This was an interview more aligned to a senior modeller / data scientist than a director of analytics.

The hiring manager treated this interview as an opportunity to get free consulting. Most of his questions did not revolve around the job specs. Many of the other questions seemed out of an HR Manual with the usual what do you want to do in 5 years etc.

Then they asked me questions about working with tools to document requirements, how I gather requirements, handling slowly changing dimensions. They asked about my management experience, both managing staff and projects. Then I got to ask about the role.
