THE ROLE
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for managing the reporting of periodic financial activities for the AT&T Discovery District following the procedures, controls and reporting systems established by Legends Hospitality. The Accounting Supervisor is additionally responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving AT&T Discovery District's financial strategy and planning. This position will monitor and analyze capital and operating budgets, including monthly financial analyses, monthly forecasting, annual planning, cash forecasting, and ad hoc business analyses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work directly with the Finance Manager and General Manager to prepare operations analysis and reports.
Lead the food cost accounting process to ensure that food costs are accurately tracked, controlled, and optimized.
Collaborate with the purchasing and production departments to ensure cost-effective management of food and beverage items.
Manage all aspects of the day-to-day accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger.
Support the Business Plan Process and ensure tie in with the strategic direct and tie in to the annual budgets.
Enters and/or coordinates all accounting, payroll & information technology functions.
Daily reconciliation of cash and credit card transactions.
Prepare weekly and monthly financial forecasts for comparison to budget
Oversee the monthly inventory process and performs in-depth cost of goods analysis.
Coordinate preparation of monthly financial statement.
Ensure a timely and accurate month-end closing process.
Analyze monthly balance sheet and P&L figures to prepare comments and identify performance trends.
Assist in the preparation of ad hoc financial analysis for senior management.
Assist Finance Manager and General Manager with analysis of information and prospective decisions based on information obtained from Accounting and operating results
Assist in the design and development of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets. Design and implement cost savings solutions.
Manage budget and control expenses effectively.
Participate in the planning and administration of the annual budget process including detailed review of departmental budget submissions.
Build solid working relationships with business and department leaders.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferably in the education or hospitality industry.
Experience in the Food & Beverage industry, specifically in food cost accounting, is preferred.
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office software required.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail essential.
Must be highly analytical, have the ability to think creatively, and to understand complex business dynamics.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
