Pros

Fast pace, learn skills that are valued by other tech companies. Pay is good if the stock value keeps going up and you got the stocks few years ago.

Cons

Location. Hard to commute into Seattle downtown or SLU. SLU has no proper public transit that would not require changing of bus. Parking is limited and you have to pay 150 dollars per month for parking. That's a lot. Management strongly discourages working from home even though that would help solve the commute problem or at least make it less miserable. Managers also want everyone to work regular hours so that you commute during the worst rush hour. No flexible hours. 401k match almost non-existent. "Holiday" season is not something to look forward. You will be working like crazy and on call.

Pros

-2 weeks of vacation first year -3 weeks of vacation after first year -smart colleagues and supervisors with can-do attitude -excellent compensation and benefits package -people are very nice and collaborative, rather than competitive. strong feeling of team-ness -leadership has incentive to push you forward so your manager is on your side when it comes time to promotion -there's a formal mentorship program that everyone is encouraged to participate -people do fun stuff outside of work together such as play soccer in a company team -flexible work hours -can bring dog to work -free gym -free parking -free snacks

Cons

-do not get long Christmas-New Year vacation, or Thanksgiving, or most "normal" holidays like Veterans day so your time off doesn't automatically coincides with non-Amazonians -software, data storage, etc. unorganized. this makes the learning curve steep when starting the job -it's a big company and working with teams across the country or the world can be challenging at times. You're expected to make it work--no excuses. It's good and bad, obviously
