Pros

May be just the subsidised health insurance.

Cons

It has to be the cheapest American company I have ever worked for in Australia. They have been slowly clawing back the benefits that they gave to their employees. To begin with almost all the major companies have some sort of bonus that is paid every year. AWS just lures people with joining bonus that gets paid for just initial 2 years. More over the Support Center is more of a glorified call center. Micro-management is rife and you are never made to feel like you are a part of the company. They talk about 16 leadership principles, but it is all hypocrite. Its just for front line engineers while the upper management use it as an excuse to make support engineers over work. Work life balance is a big joke.

Pros

Impactful and meaningful work at scale

Cons

Extremely toxic work culture : intra-team politicking, disrespect, and bullying were rampant. Next level turf guarding that impeded the effectiveness and outcomes of the organisation. Low levels of trust among team members. No standards of respect and professionalism were set or enforced, in fact, the bullies were rewarded and promoted as long as they were effective in their agenda. No safe space for whistleblowers. Have never experienced such a team culture in my 20 years of working.

Pros

Strong process orientation and automations that are meant to streamline onerous processes. Customer Obsession is a learning principle, and if you are too there's a lot of support in helping you support customers. Working with some people who are really good at their jobs--great to learn from them.

Cons

Uneven, toxic culture. Some teams are painfully political, if you are on one of them, or targeted by one, it can be a soul-sucking, sanity-questioning experience. Forced stack ranking of employees; depending on the mandate of your team, you have to manage out a percentage of your reports. A driver of toxic culture. Very hard to rise in this company. I saw top performers languishing, and the comp plan leans too heavily on the stock price to justify wonky salary structure.
