Pros

Very exciting and very supportive work environment. It had a real community of consultants that help each other out. Lots of camraderie with people who were genuinely passionate about technology. The work/life balance was also very good. We worked very hard but not excessively. Internal communication was good too. There were regular events where management talked about how the company was doing, where we were going and so on. They had one of the best HR department I'd ever seen - really efficient and pleasant to work with.

Cons

When i was there it was not very clear what kind of career paths were available. What could you become once you had a few years of consulting under your belt?

Pros

The opportunity to work on large projects, usually using the latest Microsoft Technologies. The training resources available are great. Plus I really feel it is a meticracy. If you work hard and shine relative to your peers you will be recognized. I have been promoted three years in a row and my salary has been very fairly adjusted each time to reflect the new levels I have attained.

Cons

The salary ranges are average, if not a little below for the industry. The bonus plan is non existant for lower level consultants.

Pros

Great career advanement opportunities, alot of chances to meet new people, travel, learn new technologies, and new environments every project. You are never stuck to a single cubicle depending on how often you change projects. this is not a job that will be repetitive or lack challenges, there are always new problems that need to be solved, new people that need to be convinced, and new projects to hop onto. The higher ups really do keep an eye on your performance, so your hardwork will pay off and your rank will rise. Career advancement is not based on time stayed in one position, and is very dynamic.

Cons

long work hours, social life suffers from tight project timelines. Projects can drag on and on, and overtime is about every day if a project is due, you can bet that your weekend will be gone. Traveling can be a bit of a drag, depending on where you go and if you enjoy the sever overhead from your home to your work. If a project really likes you, you might get stuck there for a long long time. Once you "specialize" in a field, the company uses you as an expert, which makes it harder for you to seek out new tech to interact with, unless done on your own time. bench times staying at home can be less than motivating to work.
