The CEO is taking multiple initiatives to drive short-term profit, at the expense of long-term viability of the company: shares buy back, prioritizing dividend payments, massive and recurrent employee layoffs (he publicly boasts he already saved £2 billion from firing people), adjusting the salaries of employees by 1/3 of the official inflation rate, making very risky decisions with compliance and claims, the list goes on for kilometers. He is implementing every chapter from "Double your Profits", from Robert Fifer, including destroying value in the supply chain and demoralizing the workforce. BAT is following the steps of KHC (The Kraft Heinz Company), which will end with the collapse of the share price and the dismissal of the CEO, with a massive golden parachute.

I have worked for several companies before joining BAT & never have I been in an environment that cares so little about its employees. If you’re someone like myself, who genuinely cares about people and who gives and gives because you simply care about doing the job right, then I urge you to leave/avoid this company at all costs. Truth is BAT doesn’t give a rat’s a** about you - regardless of the fake culture and team-building activities that some entities try to put into place. You’re merely a number in the books, and it won’t matter if you’ve been contributing to the company for 10+ years or if your performance was over-the-top exceptional. If the company needs to lower its costs, it’ll get rid of you in the blink of an eye. Either that or they’ll label you as “external” for the rest of your life there.
