Pros

The main positives I have found are the fact that most engagements in the D.C. area are very flexible in terms of hours and vacation time. Most engagements (depending on the clients) only care that you are billing 40+ hours a week and aren't too stringent as too when you need to show up. Also, working from home is an option used frequently by many employees.

Cons

Laughable benefits and reward packages. Yearly increases for the past couple of years have been nothing more than glorified cost-of-living increases. If advancement and monetary awards matter to you....do not work for this company.

Pros

BearingPoint will take chances on young consultants trying to get into the field. However the onus is on them to grow their careers. BearingPoint has a competent training program at Yale which is a unique course within the consulting world.

Cons

Overall the company is very clique-ish; where Sr. Managers stake out young consultants to become their lackeys going forward. Either you are part of that group or you are on the outside. Working for every MD is a different experience, which makes the entire experience good or bad depending on your MD and not the company; . There is no unifying culture.

Pros

It was a great company once upon a time. One of the former Big Six consulting firms. It was a great place to build your resume and then move on to industry. Managing Directors were good and the Oracle ERP practice was the best in the industry. Great Federal government practice. If you were in a growing practice, pay was great and you were promoted fairly fast. . . . . . It still may be a great place to work for new graduates just starting off. You will learn all the good and bad of management and Information technology consulting .

Cons

Oh ... the days when it was KPMG. Those were the days of great projects and great experience. It was a great place to build your resume. Not sure what happened. But now it is a crappy place. . . . . With the economy being what it is and Bearing Point having far greater internal problems, it looks like it may not even survive as a business concern. That is sad .. considering its legacy of being a former Big 6 consulting firm . Travel is ridiculous and they do not have a system of assigning people to local projects.
