Pros

It is probably the best job for a student in high school because it pays well and it does not involve any manual labor. If you are not planning on attending college, or want to dedicate your time more to work than to school they provide pretty good career opportunities to move up in the company. You will be rewared for working hard, but you also need to make sure to let others now that you are noticed. Also, if you are into electronic and purchase them frequently the employee discount is very much worth it, particularly on things like televisions and any accessory you can imagine.

Cons

The customers will expect too much, or they will want that really cheap item in the ad so you just have to deal with that. It is mostly just that the store is either dead or swarmed, and there are very few days where it is perfectly balanced so you just have one customer to deal with. In addition, if you speak two languages in a multilingual area, you will be exploited by management for no additional compensation to sell to people who not only speak your language but similar lanuages as well. There should be more money provided fo such skills.

Pros

In the retail environment this is most likely the best retail place to work for. I have come from a backround of working in many retail backrounds and this has been my best experience yet. The company provides you with a great discount, above average pay, and the abuility to work for the number one electronics retailer in the world.

Cons

I would have to say this would depend on the store you work in but in my store poor management. The lack of acountabuility really hurts the store in a negative way. This causes certian employees in the store to have to work harder to pick up the slack for the employees who do not work hard and get away with it. As a supervisor in the company I realize that the opportunity to take off on weekends and convenient days absolutely does not happen. I realize this and understand because of the field that I work in and would expect it to be this way in retail in general. When other supervisors take off and are not held accountable for it is when it causes problems.

Pros

The discounts are nice, leadership is different depending on the person but most of the managers are young and still have attitudes that they take out on employee's alot of the time.

Cons

They don't let you advance. When first getting hired with Best Buy I applied for computers or Geek Squad, I didn't get hired for either one though I finally did get into computers but they will not let me into Geek Squad even though I'm doing the work of an agent already. Basically I'm doing double the work for the same horrible pay that allows me to live paycheck to paycheck
