Pros
- CapitalOne US is great, Canada - not really! - $$$. Clueless Hiring Managers + Recruiters end up offering most salaries (as long as we're in line with the higher US salaries!) at around 80 p - that is 30% above market. If you get an offer as an experienced hire, go high and they will likely give it to you because they dont know what theyre doing. Youll need it too, because unless youre willing to join the long human centipede of people s**king each other off, you wont really get promoted and will quickly fall behind - Young workforce: can be a fun environment, One word of warning: everyone is sleeping with everyone else at this place. - Great place to get your feet wet for a year and a half and bounce, because unless you're part of the special club, you are unlikely to advance at the company.
Cons
- Shady HR practices: this HR department is incomparable. I have always had great disdain for HR people - but the group here takes the cake. Recruitment is the worst, but then it continues on through to Leadership, who are typically doing nothing more than spewing sound bites from articles they read on Linkedin about the latest "trend" - all without any actual knowledge behind any of what they're saying - Lord of the Flies culture: someone doesnt like you or perceives you as a threat? Get ready to be manipulated and lied about behind your back so that the backstabber can get ahead - Delegate delegate delegate. The minions sitting at the top keep distributing work down to the ones underneath, and they all work mindlessly towards arbitrary goals that go nowhere - because there is really no accountability save for when people are souping up their performance assessments for promotion calibration - the best blow(out) gets the biggest promotion! - In a nutshell - pretty toxic a workplace.
