Pros

One of the biggest and prestigious global firm. Great internal mobility (both global and countrywide) to advance your career and opportunity to try out different areas/groups without having to switch firms. Relatively a much better work life balance compared to other financial firms. Good people, encouragement to volunteer, diversity etc. Benefits especially healthcare may not be as good as the jersey pharma firms but they are comparable to financial firms in the NY metro area.

Cons

Due to the diversified portfolio of business you don't get the upside in a bull market as you would working for a pure IB. At the same time it is better to be diversified in the current environment.

Pros

There was no good reason to work here.

Cons

Politics, greed, and all anyone cares about there is making money for the co's bottom line (so they can waltz into senior mgmt office and say "look at me, I"m great") Then those types get promoted. It's never about the client at Citi. The praise environmentally work, which is a joke, because they encourage the use of bottled water and refrigerators at each cubicle. And they do nothing to encourage less printing or recycling of paper.

Pros

Most of the managers I have met have been very approachable and more than willing to share words of wisdom. Excellent training and mentoring program. Decent opportunities for career advancement. The work atmosphere is really nice and the company makes the effort in taking care of their employees. Compensation and benefits are on par with most other banks.

Cons

As in many places there is always the usual office politics going on that can affect the way the team functions as a whole. You'll encounter a number of fellow employees who are only willing to look out for themselves and will shamelessly do whatever it takes to move up the ladder.
