Pros
Good opportunity, by first-hand exposure, to learn about new products and services. And the environment, like in any Investment Bank/Trading Group, is fast-paced yet the people are not rude to another. I wouldn't say people hold hands but you don't get stabbed in the front (in the back maybe).
Cons
Poor Management which originates from having a lot of people used to doing things "the old way" from 10 years ago. And I think this is because a lot of the old staff have close relationships with each other and want to keep things are they are (it is very much who you know and people who think "out of the box" are not welcomed). Technology is behind the times in terms of capabilities/performance. And Senior Management refuses to admit this is the case to itself and its employees. A lot of the systems were never fully completed (because of prior layoffs) and therefore is still a lot of manual intervention to get work done. No overall strategy, there are initiatives that are started and then 4 months later die. Then these initiatives are re-surfaced again and again and again with no progress.
