To get promoted you have to always exceed expectations, fill out a bunch of paperwork and aim for the stars. If you just do your job well and try on new knowledge, study and do a lot of work that is not your own, that is not considered. Therefore, further than Middle level you must try hard to get a promotion. Salaries are below the average for the market, it is very difficult to get a higher salary if you are not "always active at meetings and everyone notices you."
Unfortunately, the atmosphere and your growth and skills depend on the team in which you will work. In the first team in which I worked, my professional skills and soft skills grew, we were one close-knit team. But in the third team where I worked, the atmosphere was so toxic that I left the company: people don't help each other, they say bad things behind your back, laugh at your failure don't say hello and manager didn’t care at all.
And to my great regret, since this is a big company, a lot depends on the management, which you, a small machine, cannot influence in any way.
