Started off okay but now not what you might think - Customer Delivery Driver ASDA Employee Review

Pros

Not many if you compare the cons below. Good people (employees) to work with, good benefits; Sharesave, Pension, staff discount doubled occasionally throughout the year.

Cons

Following enforcement of the new contract 6 in November 2019, Asda have now enforced a change to the job spec. Delivery drivers are now expected to load own vans - a job previously done very well and efficiently by experienced Service Crew. This is practically doubling the workload in one fell swoop. It's a physically demanding role without this. Failure to agree to the change will result in breach of contract apparently, and could lead to dismissal if you also refuse to accept another store role. Contract 6 has been dubbed the 'Martini' contract - Anytime, any place, anywhere - (70's tv ad apparently!) which means you'll be moved when it suits them. Google "Asda workers". If you're looking to drive for Asda and are prepared to do the physical loading on top of the actual delivery role then fine, it's just the enforcing of change on existing employees that is wrong. Holiday requests are turned down more often than you would imagine leading to resentment and unauthorized absences. Junior, store management ineffective where employees are concerned and are 'toeing the Company line' even where they know themselves it's unfair.
