In spite of receiving good feedback from my team and peers, I was fired without notice one week before my probation ended. My direct manager was left out of the loop, but instead a senior leadership jumped on a call with me, to say thank you and goodbye. The senior leadership had no knowledge of my work or contributions. My direct manager and I were left in the dark, despite them having made the termination decision well in advance without ever communicating to us.
As a background, there has been a reorg for my team, and I proactively searched for other opportunities in the org. Instead of supporting my search for internal opportunities during the reorg and a potential interest from another team to have me, the senior leadership chose to terminate me rather than risk losing their headcount.
This was one of the most unprofessional and humiliating experience for me.
It's a pity that internal politics took precedence over employee development and product success. I'm sad this didn't work out in spite of me giving it all, but I wish the org. the best of luck!
