Pros

- Opportunity to work with clients who are globally renowned. - Industry wise structured business units - Opportunities in variety of technologies - Large Peer group - Decent campuses and facilities

Cons

- Pathetic attitude towards grass root employees. They do not care if the employee spends travelling 4 hours a day to work, they do not care how we travel. No subsidized rates for any facilitiy that we use. For a company that has 100,000 people I cannot understand the fuss. - Beaurocratic rules, 100s of levels of permission required to do some things, no cases genuine or not is entertained. Management openly asks you to quit and are relentless - Folks who work 14-15 hours a day stand to progress fast irrespective of whehter you do some thing meaninful in those hours or not. - Certification policy is the worst logic I have ever heard in my life. Tying up your salary and promotion to it makes it a clever way to cut costs and control people. - Poor offshore salary. For a person to handle a family of 3 in a city is impossible with the salary you get. - HR folks are overheads, they are neither utilized effectively nor are they capable of much - Performagic, the appraisal tool used is so poor that at end of day you cannot make out who is good and who is poor. - Middle managers do just people management and quality processes (that too poorly) and majority of them are so poor technically. Sometimes I cannot believe that Infy is an IT company.

Pros

Legitimate source of gainful project-based tech employment. Handles the headaches of looking for tech work and verifying your talent & legitimacy as a professional in the field, which is especially valuable in the age of AI. Additionally, they offer internal training resources to help ensure your skills are up to date with the current tech landscape.

Cons

Pay can be significantly lower than might be expected for tech work at higher levels, as their business model is as a staffing company, garnishing part of the wage paid by project clients as part of your employment. It's definitely very livable payment in most places, but it doesn't approach senior or even mid-level pay offered by many other US-operating employers in the tech space. This company has also been operating on slow or outdated systems, which can be frustrating for the remote contact of many of its employees, but Infosys has been actively updating these systems over time. Additionally, work conditions will be set at the behest of clients. Infosys is your pipeline to client projects, not often the host of projects themselves, so working conditions & expectations can vary by client.
