Pros

Epic has a strong culture and a very autonomous work environment. The company is a fun place to be and they make an effort to maintain that fun vibe. There is a lot of responsibility given to people early in their time there, although it may not show up in pay and advancement as quickly. Healthcare is a very complicated industry and if you enjoy a challenge, there are many challenges available to you at Epic.

Cons

Epic's culture will not be a fit for everyone. If it is not a fit for you, I wouldn't suggest trying to make it fit because you'll break before Epic will bend. Epic has a philosophy of never compromising or negotiating on things. While this can be good, it also means that they don't negotiate on salary, they don't change things to accomodate individuals very well. As a company, the Epic way is correct and it is not considered appropriate to question it, particularly when you are new. "Learn by doing" is a mantra, even if that is not a way you learn best.

Pros

- good insurance coverage - no dress code - Good cafeteria, cheap and good food!

Cons

- Most of the development is done in VB6 and cache. Both the technologies are considered prehistoric else where. - There will be no such thing called life, there will be enough work to keep you busy all the time. Fear of getting negative feedback from your team lead, will motivate you to work over the weekends. - You will not be able to spend time with your family even in the holidays, without having to bother about work. - Go-live is mandatory, you end up standing 8-12 hours in the clinic. You are expected to work, even in those days, don't ask me how....you have 24 hrs in a day !! - The company doesn't prefer/recruit experienced people, they know that people with prior experience can't stand their terrible work culture. - Too much micromanagement in the company. - Work from home, is an option you can use only during the weekends/holidays. - No appreciation for your hard work, negative criticism is all you can expect from your Team Lead.

Pros

love, love love Epic. The management is awesome! They are inspiring, make us work for them full heartedly.

Cons

Madison is very cold and Verona is a remote location. Though i do understand why Epic is located here, it would be nice if the place was more fun!
