Pros

My experience at the European Commission was positive. The ambience was competitive and challenging so the quality of work was quite a high level. Working strategies were well conceived and the interaction between different stakeholders (private and public) was one of the most enriching parts of that job.

Cons

English is the main language at the European Commission, but their use is quite a low level. Although often the documents are written in English, sometimes is rubbish English and it makes difficult to understand and for that matter to pass on the message to the audience.

Pros

It is a great experience in politics and decision-making. Depending on your colleagues and your motivation you can get great opportunities of interesting work. You can work in various sectors depending on your interests, which is a plus.

Cons

It is very bureaucratic which can be quite annoying and tiresome at times. The selection process itself is quite long and cumbersome, it can take a year and multiple interviews. Possibilities of getting hired afterwards depend not only on your performance but on budget availability, which can be limiting.
