Poor Leadership

Pros

Great technology, lots of good people who work at Fortinet, Nice offices, pay and benefits are great, you should be able to make great money here as an AM or CAM. Lots of really smart people at Fortinet, in all departments up to and including the founders obviously. They're leaders in the industry.

Cons

Leadership at the VP level and up is poor.... You'll be amazed at how much and how little requires CEO/CTO/CFO approval. This leaves middle management paralyzed and indecisive, nothing can get done and everyone is afraid to make a decision. Poor communication at every level and in every department... This results in a lot of fear and uncertainty and I don't think they mind. Directors and VP's will vanish with no acknowledgement or explanation to anyone. Employees are left to search LinkedIn to see what happen to them... Not a lot of adherence to HR best practices so people lose their job and have no idea it's coming. It's not that the managers in the sales regions are bad leaders, they're just powerless and afraid.

Good company/ questionable management

Pros

Great technology company, products/ services easy to sell. Nice team of hard working individuals. Good benefits.

Cons

BDR Managment is unprofessional, and borderline abusive. I’ve seen and heard management repeatedly use sexual innuendo and sexiest remarks which makes team memebers including myself very uncomfortable. All reports made to HR and higher management, igorned. Atmosphere has become very depressing, everyone is scared to go to HR, because they will get fired (as examples where set, when others complained)everyone is finding it hard to do their job. Some people left, are interviewing elsewhere or keeping records and looking at their legal options. ..: if your looking for a vendor with a call Center mentally, micro managment, begin treated like school children while someone hurls abuse at you.. then this is the place for you.

Great product, No loyalty to their employees

Pros

Fortinet has a lot of good things going for it. It's products are some of the best in class, and the engineering team has done a phenomenal job creating products that position Fortinet in a great spot on the Gartner Magic Quadrant. The company offers employees a good work/life balance, great benefits and unlimited PTO.

Cons

Alot of unpredictable change. Fortinet does not understand what it means to be loyal to their hard working employees. If the direction of the wind changes, they may decide to lay off for fire individuals. There is no sense of stability. It is a technology company that wants the sales success, but often times doesn't allow enough time in a sales cycle to have that success come to fruition before firing individuals. Marketing also gets a bad rap. And it should. The marketing team is an outstanding group of very talented and hard working people, but their resources are often limited or tapped out. Fortinet does not appear to look at marketing as an essential function in company success. They just assume the product will sell its self.
