Pros

I worked as an SMB Account Manager, and the pay is compelling at first, especially in regards to benefits. The Fort Myers facility is world-class with a cafeteria and gym inside.

Cons

It's a Greek-life, university-style atmosphere where politics, nepotism, and good looks dominate the apparatus of the organization. It's rainbows and unicorns on the outside, but a complete train wreck on the inside. They "invest" in their talent by putting them through a grueling training process called "The Academy" that takes well over two months to complete. What they don't tell you when you're hired is that you're not guaranteed the job -- you MUST make it out of Academy to keep your job. So what that means is that even after going through a 5-step interview process and two months of Academy, you're still not necessarily a fit for their ideals. There were several people in my Academy that moved their entire families for this job, only to lose it two months in. Work-life balance is an issue once you hit the floor, and the territory arrangement only sets up a select few for success, which is critical because if you aren't hitting your numbers you can consider yourself a goner. It is cutthroat. Run. Away. Far. Away.

Pros

if you are immature you will love being treated like a child and watching grown adults dress up in top hats and pour you tea/drinks and putting your pictures of your face on the wall in an attempt to have (forced) "fun"

Cons

management by spreadsheet, people promote their friends with lesser results and the RVPs are awful, simply awful - put them in the real world and they would not stand a chance

Pros

People - There are some extremely intelligent people within the organization which makes collaborative efforts swift and effective at times. Additionally, as most, you will be moving into the area not being from here and are supplied with an immediate circle of like-minded individuals to befriend. Lauries Cafe - She's the best. If you get a chance to meet her you will know what I am talking about. Interesting Clients - Some of the organizations you will have a chance to work with truly are shaping and defining specific areas of IT, and it is very fulfilling to work hand in hand with them and watch them grow.

Cons

Management - Let's be honest, you cannot possibly expect someone with one year of sales experience to be able to effectively lead more senior contributors who have played the game for years. Favoritism runs rampant and mid management does a horrendous job with promotions (The reason so many managers get demoted, and their best talent consistently leaves - almost 60% turnover in SMB and trust me, the good people rarely stay) Inherited Book of Business- You have zero say in the accounts you receive initially, which can set you up for tremendous success, or failure on a scale like you cannot begin to imagine. Territories are shrinking tenfold as they appear to be hiring anyone who has a college degree. Quality of workforce has drastically declined during my time at the organization. Hiring - If you have any prior sales experience at an organization that is professional, my suggestion is run for the hills as you will contemplate running into traffic on a regular basis. Demographic of sales force resembles greek life at community colleges and unqualified candidates slip through the cracks more frequently than not. Training - While the training is what I would consider world-class, the sticky thing they forget to mention is that there is a chance you will not pass it. We are talking about people uprooting their lives, moving to Fort Myers, and then after two months not having a job. You can only imagine the potential nightmare scenarios of doing something like this. HR Violations - If you are sensitive this is not the place to be. Some folks find it to be their right to insult multiple people/coworkers (primarily veterans) and think that it is acceptable. Anywhere else the things that some say would lead to immediate termination. Work/Life Balance - If you like being told when you can, and cannot take PTO (primarily around the holidays) then this is the place for you! You will not get overworked, however you will have to get permission to take time off. During the holidays you will work til midnight New Years Eve, and do not even think about taking more than one day off to go visit your family during Christmas.
