Pros

Good brand, very smart analysts. Gartner proposition is strong and our services can really make the difference between success and failure in IT. Opportunity to develop a great network of C-levels across your client organizations - they push you big times to do so and they provide lot of training to make sure you are successful with that. Decent salary and compensation plan; some good benefits. Career development plan is there, but it can be improved.

Cons

Management, or better to say micro-management: plenty of KPIs, data, targets. The whole Gartner management are people who have been promoted within the organization - they don't bring any fresh perspective. The majority of them have no idea of what management is, beside long management training hours. Incredible pressure to meet monthly and quarterly targets. Very poor work/life balance. Some arrogant people.

Pros

can build solid relationships with other reps based on your same terrible experiences. You use to be able to say the company's growth was a positive but that has stalled and now the leadership team is micro managing every step and making the job worse than its ever been (and it been pretty terrible at times). as a boomerang you would expect t get some level of respect and all you get is a junior manager down your throat all day to fill out useless trackers and then when you don't you get reprimanded like you are a child ( but many MSE employees are legit children)

Cons

fake pipeline, fake deals, fake POC's, fake sales tactics, fake personalities from leadership and literally the worst RVP you could imagine working for. She knows nothing about the industry, client, persona's, products and would rather PIP and plan people then admit that Gartner is at the very most a nice to have vs. a must have. they will send a survey out to their teams and force people to fill it out and then once they are honest and the feedback is terrible they get mad and gaslight you.

Pros

- A good job if you're between jobs or taking a career break - Skill up for your next role by consuming the research and speaking to experts

Cons

- The role essentially is a customer success manager. Expect to be micro-managed like you're in a call centre. Your 15+ years of experience in your chosen field of expertise means zero to management. You're only as valuable as your ability to assist with renewals and helping inexperienced sales people close new deals. You will never be respected as an expert or for your ability to apply wisdom, technical skills and creativity to solve problems for clients. The scope for problem-solving however is limited as you will have 25-30 clients to manage. There is no career path in your chosen field of expertise. Get a promotion only if you aspire to be a 'Gartner' person like a sales manager or call centre manager euphemistically titled as a VP of one sort or another. You will have no budget and no autonomy. You will follow a playbook and work within narrow templated approaches to 'service delivery'. Expect to be demeaned by Sales associates with 2 -3 years experience in the professional workforce with little to no background in technology or business.
