      Harman India needs a reality check

      Pros

      Great products. Good middle management and a lot of good engineers.

      Cons

      Directors - a group of incompetent lot. The avg # of years of experience for management team is around 12-13 years (they like to call themselves young leadership team but for the employees it is the inexperience that killing ) more than building the organization these jokers are busy making their careers. There is no vision for employees. Mainly because the HR Director herself lacks people vision, is unapproachable , and lacks experience to build good policies. This company thinks of today and not for the future.

      Tremendous turmoil since 2-3 years, lots of politics, CYA attitued of managers.

      Pros

      Good brand recognition. Good work life balance. Employee discounts / sales. Company with a rich history and heritage with founders such as Sidney Harman and J. B. Lansing.

      Cons

      Managers guarding their power and not delegating responsibilities. No one's willing to take any risks or innovate. Continous turmoil and org changes (since past 3 years) hinders creativity and innovation. Nor room for growth. Outside people are generally preferred over promotion of internal candidates. Communication from HR is more like a school principal trying to discipline young students.

      Pros

      Fun projects and products to work on. Pay is competitive. Freedom to work on a variety of products / projects. Easy to shine as a top performer.

      Cons

      Incompetent employees and managers are everywhere. Management cannot recognize or fix known broken systems or processes. Low performing employees can flourish at Harman.
