Pros

- Great to have on your resume - Work from home option - Treated as an adult (without managers looking over your shoulder) - Benefits are above average

Cons

- Jobs are outsourced, and outsourced employees are not held accountable - Too much red tape which does not allow for any innovation - Putting in extra hours is expected of each employee as departments are always understaffed and employees are expected to pick up the work load - Almost impossible to get things done as everyone hides behind policies! - Perks do not really exists unless your in sales, promises of salary alignments to market value etc never usual show up. - Work life balance, that term doesn't exist

Pros

Having IBM on your resume

Cons

IBM's Consulting Business is interested in ONE thing and one thing only..........BILLABLE HOURS. That's it! Compensation is below industry average ZERO work/life balance, especially in the consulting division. CUT THROAT Enormouse amount of administrative stuff in addition to client work. Promotion process is unfair and COMPLETELY arbitrary. No matter how stellar your performance (by your manager's own admission) your raise is a paltry 1%-2% of your salary and your bonuses are just as laughable. Meanwhile, those that kissed the right behind get $12K - $20K raises. It's widely known in consulting now that IBM is not someplace you stay for more than 3- 4 years.

Pros

None at all, in fact the only reason why I took the job was the "wow" factor (back then) associated with the IBM name

Cons

- Poor work life balance - Incompetent management from the top down to the bottom - New hires were left to sink or swim - Training for new hires is practically non-existent - Pay is so bad, that your salary would be outpaced by your peers at other companies in just 2-3 years. - Employee benefits were among the worse around. - Taking leave was extremely frowned upon, and people were encouraged to take their laptop with them and check emails on the road. - You are supposed to be "on call" even though you aren't paid for it, on a 24-7 basis.
