Pros

Interesting projects and nice clients

Cons

IQVIA has suffered from a drastic short-staffing that I haven't really seen in previous years, which has resulted in smaller project teams than needed and people taking more projects that they can successfully handle. Management feels that by saying "we need to be more efficient" or "simplify the approach" they solve this, and on top of they do a bunch of last minute non-project related urgent requests. Many times I have worked until early hours of the morning sending deliverables without a single "thank you for staying late" (I even got once a "lets discuss before 8:30AM" response in the early morning for an email I sent at 2:00 AM). The expectations they have are sometimes not reasonable, and there is a lack of empathy from upper management which very rarely recognizes successes but is always prompt to complain about the smallest things. I constantly feel that even doing my best and sacrificing my work-life balance it is never enough. I have not received a raise in recent years, promotions are pretty much frozen, and in all my years here I have never received my bonus a 100%. This is a shame as projects are interesting and clients are usually nice, but poor management really poisons the well and pretending that there are no issues is not the way to address them nor improves morale.

Pros

Within my department, I work alongside some amazing people. Every is always willing to step in and help no matter what the task. I’ve been very fortunate to have a Line Manager who is transparent with work performance and career growth.

Cons

The current role I am in has been non-stop changing. They split responsibilities amongst different teams to alleviate workload, however, with particular tasks gone, upper management has decided to award everyone more studies. This means the FTE is not based off of #of sites but based of # of studies. I now manage 250 sites which is unrealistic. There is also expectation that we oversee Associates and have to report study updates internally and to the Sponsor but this is nearly impossible now that we are not hands on with files. Not only is the workload not manageable but it’s the expectation to perform above and beyond while giving us more responsibility than an individual can handle. Going into the new headquarters in Durham, NC was nice given the in-person conversations and collaboration, however, I received multiple unfriendly looks from Executives just for using the printer. This should never be the first impression from working remotely to going into the office for the first time. Very displeased with the lack of unprofessionalism.

Pros

You get paid at the end of the month

Cons

Horrifically unintegrated company, leading to operational inefficiencies and lots of extra manual work just to "make things work". Every team does their own thing their own way, good luck trying to integrate teams on larger projects. 4+ years following the merger and people are still "legacy-Quintiles" or "legacy-IMS". Both legacy organisations use different systems, processes, etc... Again, good luck integrating teams and coming across as a unified company to clients. Lastly the company did not deal with COVID well: despite clear financial health throughout the pandemic, bonuses and promotions were frozen leading to the loss of many great people. Laptops don't work, the servers were very slow following the shift to work from home, yet the company did nothing to fix the basic IT issues which affect day-to-day productivity. 6 months has been enough to make up my mind: IQVIA is a sorely mismanaged company, with a bottom line saved only by its tech assets and proprietary data.
