Pros

There is a great team atmosphere at Medtronic. The benefits are also very good: health, 401k, stock share buying opportunities etc. They also are very inclusive and celebrate just about all peoples holidays of all backgrounds. It was very fun to work there. They are also very family/work balance aware.

Cons

Aside from a decent bonus, sometimes, they don't pay a fair rate going into a position. They also don't offer great raises after your starting rate. They have a lot of other job opportunities within available, but sometimes they ask for above standards to move into another position. Also, some managers make it difficult to transition into a new role, they don't like losing valuable team members.

Pros

Medical device development so work has meaning

Cons

The work environment is horrendous. Cubes have no privacy and no space for the equipment you are actually supposed to develop on. Computers provided to develop on are old and IT routinely uninstalls tools needed for development. Leadership does not trust it's employees. Pay is low and there are no opportunities for advancement.

Pros

Had an amazing team, great benefits, work from home, and solid work life balance.

Cons

The company does not value long time employees at all. I was at the company for 2.5yrs and in that time never received a significant raise or promotion. The best they could do was an annual raise of 2% which is terrible considering the rate of inflation is 7.7%. What also made me mad is people fresh out of college were getting hired and paid for the same position I had been in for 2.5yrs. It got to the point where I had to value my own dignity over the job. The only metric upper management cares about is stock price. In my 2yrs there we never once received a full bonus due to "underperforming". Which never made sense to me because my operating unit always over preformed or met all quarterly goals. So it felt like we were being punished for other teams underperforming, but hey at least CEO Geoffrey Martha was able to be compensated $16.8 million this year.
