NVIDIA India experience disappointing

Pros

Great products. Constant innovations. Fantastic attitude. All these exist in the parent company located in the US. But its a different story in India.

Cons

The senior management in the India center in Bangalore is a closed group consisting entirely of men, so the attitude is boys club. There is no structured way of functioning. It is all very arbitrary and information is not centralized so finding it is very difficult. There is very little cooperation offered to a new person, like when I was there and what was discussed during the interview was not what the role became, so it was very stressful.

Pros

This is update on my previous review. Main thing in "pros" column is decent pay.. Mostly everything else goes to "cons".

Cons

I am not sure what Nvidia's "engaged" status means, but employees are instructed by the upper management to leave positive feedback here (hence all the positive one-liners). Nvidia has a "yes sir" culture. If you don't believe it - look up Jensen's old lecture on Youtube when he says that the best quality of an employee is ability to accept criticism. Management whims run the show, technical expertise always comes second. Horrible team dynamics within engineering organization. Management hires their friends, people get fired in retaliation for talking back. Middle management invents work for everyone so they can look useful. Many of my coworkers are openly saying that they are here only for the paycheck. Seems like there was a honest effort to invest in tools and services for employees at some point, but now mostly everything is broken. Any request to HR or IT takes weeks if not months (but most of the time you won't hear back unless you are able to escalate). Avoid Nvidia unless you like to feel miserable.

Awful Manager

Pros

You get to work on challenging problems. Lot of room to change things and contribute Very fast paced

Cons

The biggest downside that shadows all the good things about Nvidia is the manager. No clarity in conveying directions, often confused and forgetful. Knit picking, micromanging. No technical knowledge, very political and manipulative. No focus on resolving issues. Many people left the group before I joined, during my tenure and after I left but there hasnt been any action from HR.
