Negotiate a high salary from the start as raises are only 2.5-3% even if you work your butt off and kiss butt. Excessive turnover will allow you to meet lots of people for a short periods of time. Dulles campus is on the W&OD trail if you want to bike to work or go for lunchtime walks. 6% 401k match (but need 3 year vesting)

Cons

If you're good at playing the 'Agile' game, you will love it here. Two week sprints of randomly assigned, meaningless tasks; never work on the same thing twice; glorified secretary scrum-masters add an extra layer of required butt kissing on a daily basis. Huge hiring events followed by huge layoffs - never know whether you're 'safe' from the choppin' block. Feel like number.

Pay rate is entirely offset by cost of living There is zero possibility to take initiative because these ideas WILL be shot down by upper level engineers Quality of work is a completely concept - schedule is king. If you produce crap, it will be happily excepted if it is on time (even if it doesn't do what it's supposed to do) "That's the way things are around here" is this company's effective motto I've never seen coworkers treat each other so rudely, disrespectfully, and unprofessionally. I've heard of people at other companies get let go for behavior that is tolerated here as "That's just how he is".

LOTS of politics, low pay, back stabbers, poor management, lack of promotion opportunities, expectations to work for free which management calls "green time"
