Pros

Get to learn banking domain. Flexible timing allowed (at least in my project) - depends on the manager.

Cons

Oracle Financial Services Software Limited (OFSS) was formerly i-flex, which is acquired by Oracle. Flexcube is its corebanking product. AND I JOINED MAINLY BECAUSE IT IS ORACLE NOW. 1) It takes lot of time to get hang of functional and technical aspects of the product. Too vast really. Hence it take lot of time to start being productive. 2) Unreasonable customizations accepted. Why build such a huge, complex and generic product then? 3) Poor program management. Employees will bear the brunt of this. 4) Very tedious/lengthy process of doing product changes. Doing a small thing takes ages due to internal dependencies. You will learn nothing out of it. Process is constantly changing and no documentation. 5) Very poor work-life balance in an active assignment. 6) Onsites are mainly in developing countries and are poorly managed. Employees slog at onsite. 7) The work has to be within product boundaries and according to its framework. No lateral ideas required nor entertained. Hence no learning or restricted learning only. Any additional skill-set you have is totally wasted. And existing skill sets would evaporate soon. 8) Bonus is shown as part of CTC in the offer letter. And they hardly give 30% of it. 9) No hikes nor increments. Forget about promotions.

It all depends on the org you're in

Pros

Everything depends on what org you're in, and what city you're in. My org, we were part of an acquired company so the people are great, the legacy management is still fighting for us. But there is only so much they can do. We've got free drinks in the kitchen. Access to a lot of training materials if you can make sense of the system to find what you want. Great benefits.

Cons

NO RAISES, promotions without a pay increase, you need a team to fight for office outings and parties and fun if that's something you want. It's a self-serve tech company, so they expect you to solve your computer issues first, before calling IT, be prepared to struggle with getting your Outlook issues solved by reading an outdated internal web page, or by googling your issue on your own.

Oracle SSI

Pros

It's not Oracle, it is Oracle SSI for which I am writing my review. Oracle SSI is the EMEA consulting wing of Oracle which operates from Bangalore. Pros: ------ - Work from Home - Family work life balance - Open Culture, but most of the cases on paper only - You can survive in this company without doing any work for years - A big hierarchy in reporting which is not required for a consulting firm - Most of the managers are powerless, so if you are in good terms with senior managers, you will rock in this company.

Cons

- Salary hike rarely happens. Last time after 2 years with a budget of less than 6%. - Growth is limited. Already 200 + manager's and 20+ director and company total strength is approx 800. - No onsite allowance. You will be told that your limit is 30-40 usd, but you need to provide the bills. No bill no payment, so no eating at roadside or restaurant who don't give your bill. Even you can't claim tips / liquor on expenses. This will go out from your own pocket as tips is mandatory in most of the country. - Don't expect good accommodation when you travelling onsite for project. You might have to share an apartment with 2-3 other families / consultants. - You need to pay your kids travel visa, tickets, etc from your own pocket. Air ticket and visa application fee for spouse needs approval and the you have to pay the pre-requisite tax on these. - Once you at onsite or in project, you will be on mercy of your project manager. You will hardly get any positive response from your managers for any onsite related issues..
