Pros

They invest alot in their employees' training opportunities. There is always an opportunity to learn about other areas of the company or to dig deeper into a topic of interest. P&G also strongly encourages collaboration, so you could really get into anything that they have to offer project-wise (as long as you have something to offer back). I would also mention job stability, but that goes for most large consumer products companies. They make it very clear how you can succeed within the company (by their definitions of success), but it is also possible for you to make your own way to meet your own definition of success as well.

Cons

Upper management is very resistant to change and new technology. Be prepared for your great ideas to be shot down...then adopted 3 years later once upper management can wrap their heads around it. The recruiting process is a mess, their [R&D] recruiting "teams" are people with full-time jobs in technical roles looking to make the numbers. They recruit as a "side job" so alot of people/papers/etc. fall through the cracks. If you aren't careful they will treat you like a commodity. If you do not have an engineering degree- ask SPECIFIC questions about everything. Never settle for the first "fluff" answer that they give you. Be prepared to be under-utilized your first 1-2 months (or more) with this company. They assume it takes a lifetime before you can contribute something of worth. Be persistent and take initiative to get meaningful work up front.

Pros

Security and stability. Clear processes and they care about their employees in the surface level.

Cons

The company wants soldiers to fit into the P&G processes-individual contributors who are not average/mediocre are not advance. This leads the company to have a very vanilla flavor-which is very negative to a consumer company-specially in this times where the consumer is more discerning and multicultural. They can have diversity inititatives but the main diversity is accepting and valuing different values, background, thought processes and execution modes-and in that P&G is in the 60s.

Pros

Job security (pretty much). If you do well and get hired, you have a job for the forseeable future. Also if the economy takes a tumble, you can count on your retirement program surviving very well. You can also look forward to that for decades to come; P&G execs have no need of pulling an Enron, MCI, Globodyne (Fun with Dick & Jane), imclone, etc. The top execs will not abscond with loads of money while leaving thousands of employees broke. There are many other perks too besides the great healthcare/daycare benefits. Usually you get gift packs delivered by Christmas, bonus store items, consumer panels (compensated opinion surveys), free product, etc. etc. There's also King's Island days/giveaways. P&G generally keeps you challenged.

Cons

There are politics and lots of them, so get used to it. Even as an intern, if you get the wrong boss, chances are you won't want to come back. If it's your first job experience of any kind after high school/college, do NOT think that all companies are like this.
