In Procter & Gamble, there is a lot of emphasis on building competencies and coaching. Management also encourages a lot for the employees to look not only at internal corporate trainings but also link with the industry best practice, talking with vendors and other best in class companies. There is also lots of importance placed on recognition and providing feedback to employees both in a one to one environment as well as in a bigger group for recognition.
