Pros

Flexible enough for agents, and the offices have good snacks and great coffee.

Cons

They closed the mortgage department, meaning that management could not keep the shop open because of the housing crisis.

Pros

I really enjoyed working at Questrade while it lasted. My whole content design team was great and my manager was awesome. My pay, annual bonuses, RRSP matching, and benefits were also excellent.

Cons

Unfortunately, after a few rounds of layoffs and a change in upper management, everything changed. Suddenly the work environment became very tense because everyone was scared for their jobs. Rightfully so, since it wasn’t long before the entire content design team was laid off except for one person, along with many members of the product design team as a whole. I see they’re recruiting for new content design roles now. I wouldn’t recommend for any content designer to work for Questrade. I heard they’re offering lower pay and you’ll have zero job security. Don’t do it. It’s not worth the stress. The management that’s left is terrible.

Pros

Questrade was a great group, and my most enjoyable role so far. The changes to how we worked were definitely a huge step in the right direction, and as a result, we were very empowered with some great tools and resources to support our day-to-day activities. A big part of this was their forward-thinking approach to Ai that led to some definite skill-building across peers and entire teams. I have former teammates who have moved on to larger financial institutions, and this is the one thing they miss - access to Ai that empowers them.

Cons

Strategic decisions have had a huge impact on the culture and the business in the last 12+ months. What was once a great workplace has been replaced by the typical "no one is safe" environment. Loyalty is out the window, with a definite shift towards people as disposable commodities. If you want a prime example of how a consulting agency (aka Deloitte) implements a theoretical strategy in the real world, keep an eye on Questrade.
